Born in Enid, Oklahoma, John Hodgden grew up on a farm west of town, near Drummond. He continues to operate a wheat and cattle farm in the same location, which his family has owned since statehood.

John received a bachelor's degree from the University of Oklahoma in 1986, and received his law degree and Master of Business Administration from OU in 1990. His daughter, Claudia, is now a student at OU.

After graduating from law school, John practiced law in Houston. He is licensed to practice is Colorado, Oklahoma and Texas.

John has served as a city councilman on the Enid City Commission, and is an active member of the American Business Club.
​
John has extensive experience handling family law matters throughout Northwest Oklahoma. This includes divorce, child custody, guardianships, and grandparent visitation matters. A significant portion of John's practice is devoted to representation of landowners, business, and agriculture clients in civil disputes. He has extensive experience in criminal law matters, including DUI, and other alcohol related driving offenses.
